Also can't wait! Love this idea! Its about time the general public is made aware of the growing epidemic of hypothyroidism, how devastating it can be, and why it is seemingly one of the only autoimmune diseases that is just completely overlooked and dismissed. I hate to think it might be because it has been looked upon as a "woman's disease"...but something tells me that that is probably the exact reason why.

Will the bumper stickers be shipped to Canada? I hope so, I'd use one. The problem with thyroid disease versus diabetes, in my opinion, is the lack of marketing potential. Just stand at a pharmacy (I have nothing against them, #1 daughter is a pharmacist), and look at the array of glucose meters, pens, etc. and the variety of glucose-free candies, and it becomes obvious. There is much more $$ to be made from diabetes patients.

Correction: That may have been Dr. Broda Barnes ("Hypothyroidism: The Unsuspected Illness") instead of Dr. Jefferies, actually.

Can't wait to have one, too! :-)

It's a great idea, not only will it trigger more knowledge about synthetic/T4 only versus natural thyroid hormone treatment, but it may also raise general knowledge about the much higher incidence of hypothyroidism among the population worldwide than currently admitted by the medical establishment.

Dr. Jefferies ("Safe Uses of Cortisol") and Dr. Peatfield ("Your Thyroid and How to Keep It Healthy: The Great Thyroid Scandal and How to Survive It") estimate that up to 40% of the population will eventually develop hypothyroidism at some point in their lives!

Prof. Hotze (not to be confounded with Dr. Steven Hotze from the U.S.!), a german specialist in thyroid treatment, arrives at an estimate of 12% of the population suffering from Hashimoto (an auto-immune disorder which causes hypothyroidism), based on conservative cifers from the U.S. (see http://www.schilddruesenpraxis.de/nl_200605.shtml).

That is a much higher percentage than for example people suffering from diabetes (estimated at 6-8% of the population).

Yet look at how much attention diabetes gets from the medical establishment and the media, while hypothyroidism is almost unknown to the general public (let alone to doctors)!

Cheers,
ibeji
